Training complex models takes hours/days which seems incompatible with laptop usage : mobility. I would personally buy $3000 of desktop/server, $300 refurbished thinkpad/dell and put the rest in a screen, keyboard, etc. Those laptop will probably be bought buy companies to give their “data scientist” nice toy to play with.
