It turns into an ad at the end, but the fundamental stuff they talk about beforehand is a really interesting and easy to understand summary of a fundamental issue with tightening bolts on a flange.

This is very interesting! I recently worked with a high-pressure setup in which I had to tighten a six-screw flange after placing the sample into the chamber. I would tighten the screws little by little in an circular way, so several passes were needed. I had some intuition of the reason being that this way I could ensure that I would achieve an even seal, but I never thought about in great depth. It is very cool to see how engineers think about these details so carefully, and optimize their methods!
