Main problem is verification services like https://nscverifications.org/welcome-to-verification-services/

Apparently people can also just call the registrar’s office and verify student name, major, degree, and year awarded.

If you are willing to pay around 500 dollars you will get degrees official transcripts and pretty much everything you need. But like i’m not sure if what to do with official transcripts, like during the interview just throwing them down on the table randomly would look sus.

imo and no offense to folks who went on to do this work but for me at least i question the value of a degree for most non specialized work.

i went to college because my parents expected me to. got into a major university as pre-law before i decided i just couldn’t do it.

instead fell into computers before they were a thing. my parents were understandably concerned that i was doomed to a life of misery. i saw the dawn of the internet, the rise of web, mobile, social and now ai.

you have to be scrappier without one for sure -as a woman i had to be 2x scrappier.

instead of focusing on my lack of paper i showed employers that i was capable of learning anything they needed me to do … and i followed through on it.

today i have people creating jobs for me vs me trying to fit into someone else’s description of a job they think they need.

for jobs where that degree matters - saving lives in court, medicine, engineering, etc you can’t and shouldn’t fake it. if you’re so set on working in these disciplines where degrees are required then unfortunately you just need to suck it up and go do the work.

also fwiw many companies requiring a diploma will likely also do a credit and/or background check. so even if you got a fake diploma it might not get you far - i’m sorry.

but for everything else, focus on what you can do not what someone thinks they want you to know.

and finally, please don’t take this as a flex but i work for a fortune 100 companmy & my income last year was mid six figures. eveni find it hard to believe i did this.

yes, it is possible to succeed without that paper. please keep us updated on how you get on - sending good thoughts into the electrons for you ☺️
