An 11 year old girl just got shot dead in the city due to drug related violence. This is two weeks after a 16 year old, who happened to be someone I guided, got stabbed to death and is just incident number I don’t even know anymore in a series of drug related violence. Truly shit.

True. The violence is not on American levels right now. But it still sucks to see the youth, who I come in contact with a lot through volunteering, get trapped in these endless cycles of violence. There’s a grenate thrown almost every week in the city. It was only a matter of time someone accidentally died.

This is not drug-related violence, but recently, a 14 year old girl was shot in a store 5 minutes from my house in LA by police who thought someone inside had a gun, but it turns out they didn’t. The bullet went through a wall and hit her, killing her. She was in a dressing room trying on clothes and didn’t even have a clue that anything was going on. Officer is on paid administrative leave a paid vacation for 2 weeks and the family (who were recent immigrants) got nothing. They also killed the guy they thought might have a gun but didn’t, and it turns out he was also an immigrant. I’m absolutely sure it was a coincidence /s

    • Am I missing something or does it look really insecure? Thin enough to cut. Short enough to climb, and no wire on top. No braces so push it over maybe?

        Short enough to climb

I’m now imagining you scaling the wall with your bear hands.

But also, you’re right, it does look insecure. But that’s part of the plan. Anyone looking to climb up will think twice when they realise it might topple over when they get to the top.

John Oliver had a rare w moment some time ago. IIRC he hired someone to literally shake the border wall with their bare hands and it wobbled by almost a whole meter (video was John Oliver Border Wall II, now unavailable for some reason). Lots of the wall was built on shit ground that was cracked or constantly soaked, and its foundations are shallow enough to dig through. Also, most illegal immigrants don’t get here by crossing the border. They just come for a “tourist trip” and ignore the expiration date on their visas.

It’s more about symbolism than actually keeping people out. A big waste of money tbh

Currently making efforts to reorganize my life as I feel like I have reached a breaking point because I did too much for the last few months. It kinda suck but keeping myself sane is the most important thing right now of course.

I wish you all a nice week, comrades. I got a meeting with my action group this week, which I always really enjoy. Curious to see what we can come up with to do this time. I’m also having a theory lecture organized by the party.

That’s what my surroundings are saying as well, so it’s great to have the support to take it a bit slower. Unfortunately my new college course seems to be the victim here, and that is a bummer really. But between work, party work and education, education is the least of my priorities at the moment. I will keep on working and doing party work (mainly setting up a new youth movement for which I see great potential). Can’t have it all, unfortunately.

One thing that stresses me out when I meet my family is their clear lack of awareness of their hypocrisy along with their false moralism, my cousin spent a long time complaining about the supposed corruption of the government, but on the next subject said that he can’t wait to get into a corruption scheme together with his father-in-law to smuggle imported goods.

It’s back to work in Russia, officially (technically people have been working non stop, holidays or not). It is also anomalously cold in my city, down to -35°C this morning.

Am i the asshole if i told an old man to fuck off? Context is that i was making a renovation for some official papers and the service was trash (took me 3 hours to make the freaking tramit), someone out of courtesy gave his sit to an old man just so he could rest while waiting in line (he was like 6 persons behind me on the wait list) but this cheeky old man tried to cut in line in front of me but i didn’t let him and told him to respect our time since me and everyone else literally have to get back to work after this tramit, the old man still managed to cut in line after me but that’s no longer my problem. I fucking hate sly people no matter the age and i will not hesitate to put them in place regardless of situation.

Currently reading the Dutch book ‘Billionaires under the guillotine’, which surprisingly got mentioned in a mainstream newspaper. It starts with a Bernie Sanders quote but that’s forgiven. It’s written by a guy who always wanted to become rich when he was younger but is now exploring ways to end capitalism, discussing various socialist projects and ways for companies to operate under a workers democratic model. I hope it’s good.

The amount of rain in LA right now is unreal. I’ve never seen so much rain in my life. Things are flooding, my friends’ power is going out, and it turns out our doors were not designed for rain like this and are leaking. Just two days ago, an entire week straight of heavy rain ended, and now there’s more rain and it’s even more severe.

Personally, I love the rain, I can’t get enough of it, but not everyone in my family feels the same.

CNN publishes article revealing truth about Bakhmut and Soledar:

A Ukrainian soldier fighting in the eastern town of Soledar told CNN that the situation is “critical” and the death toll is now so high that “no one counts the dead”.

The soldier is from the 46th air mobile brigade, which is leading Ukraine’s fight to hold onto Soledar in the face of a massive assault from Russian troops and Wagner mercenaries. . . .

He described a dynamic battlefield where buildings change hands daily and units can’t keep track of the escalating death toll. “No one will tell you how many dead and wounded there are. Because no one knows for sure. Not a single person,” he said. “Not at the headquarters. Not anywhere."
