Following the gross malfeasance of the withdrawal, I didn’t think that there were more red lines to cross, any further moral injury that could be inflicted on those of us who served or worked to save our allies. Yet, with this soul-sickening revelation that our closest partners will now bleed for Russia, here we are. Again. We should have seen it coming. We abandoned our closest partners wholesale: what choice were the commandos left with? Those left behind are suffering destitution, famine, persecution from the Taliban.
No, they are suffering from US war and sanctions. Withdrawing is the one right thing.
This author has a white man’s burden complex.
If your “closest partners” rob your country and blow it to smithereens, who needs enemies?
💯
I hope that will happen with Ukraine too, and we would find Ukrainians fighting against USA, the empire that plunged their country into nazi horror and set them back, two times, for like 30 years.
Well that hope is not much really, but Afghans and Chechens were seemingly lost cause too.
For sure, once people realize they got used a lot of them will turn on the regime and its backers.
I cannot blame those Afghan commandos who fight for Russia; to do so would deny them agency in their own survival.
Welcome to the US, where even soldiers use lib speak
Damn. What would it take to radicalize someone like this?
