  • You are expecting dominos to do it for you. That’s literally what you are asking. They aren’t going to do that for you because they make more money if you ignore the “deals”. Even a tiny barrier is going to keep out some number of people that don’t find value in spending 30 seconds to save 25% on a $30 tab because they have the money to not even notice, which increases profitability. Their line goes up. Our system forces all these companies to worry about that line going up.

That said, they aren’t trying to hide it from you, it is the largest thing on their store page, and their people on the phone will happily tell you about it.

Someone else made the same analogy, it is just like going to a drive through and ordering a burger, fries, and drink separately and not asking for a combo. Same products, but most places it will cost you more to order them separately than to order the combo.

If you are still mad about it, you aren’t mad at Dominos, you are mad at the core of our current economic system.

  • All of them i’ve actually wanted to try out I was able to stream via the xbox game pass website in a browser. It is not a perfect experience, but it is “good enough” on a decent internet connection. I understand that if you physically have an xbox you can also run the game on that and stream it to your linux desktop for much better performance and latency, but I have not tried this myself.

That said, it is pretty rare. The only ones I’ve tried that with were fortnite (a friend wanted to play the lego game mode, but it was short lived - starved for content, lol) and starfield (it was free on game pass and I wasn’t sure I wanted to buy it).

  • People have the ability to block communities as they see fit individually and also follow whatever communities they want and only browse their subscribed list. (steering wheel)

But when popular communities are on an instance that is very much “get on board or get out” to the point they ban users from every community on their instance for having differing political views, it is very much reasonable to try to start or promote communities run on different instances controlled by better admins. (where the roads go (ok, so building roads is a bad analogy, it is more like when a place has terrible sidewalks so people walk through the grass and they wear in those little dirt-path short cuts and eventually no one uses the sidewalks))

  • That’s partly true, but I wouldn’t say the assault was “basically suicide” when they had an entire Star Destroyer full of storm troopers boarding a ship that fits in the docking bay. Even if they went 2 for 1 on losses, the Empire still wins with “minimal losses” comparatively. There just isn’t much screen time of them being exceptionally good soldiers.

I wasn’t suggesting we should see Vader telling them to miss, just thinking it would be nice to see more storm troopers being bad-asses throughout the films. It felt like most of the time the Empire won a fight throughout the entire original trilogy was by bringing overwhelming numbers and firepower more than the troops being especially good. The opening scenes even felt like to me.

  • Linux fanboys have ruined it’s image. Most of them take pride in doing simple things in an over complicated manner and wonder why people won’t switch. Even basic tasks like loading kernels or installing something is told in such a gatekeeping manner that scares new users into adapting it.

I think this hit close to home. As a community, we really need to strive to be better here. I typically don’t post much in any Linux forums. I feel like I am still too new to offer “the correct answer”, and keep quiet and leave it to the “experts”; like it isn’t my place to try to help. I guess I need to get over that and do my part from now on.
