Most likely a DDoS. 338Canada got DDoSed over the last 24 hours.
I had bet a couple of months ago that Elon would eventually be Trump’s fall guy for this.
😭
I’m basing that on the comment by the owner of 338canada. Also they use CloudFlare so it’s unlikely normal load could kill it. Instead I’m guessing someone DDoSed the actual server, behind CF.
True. That’s why I’m looking at aggregators, as well as pollsters. Just in case the one I look at is way off for some reason.
Yes but it’s important for onlookers to understand this mechanism. I often hear people believing that private firms don’t have to profit maximize. I used to think that too but it doesn’t match reality. The competition mechanism explains what we see around us.
And of course there are exceptions depending on the exact context and market conditions of a private firm but they don’t negate the mechanism under the assumptions it operates.
It’s just some capitalists fighting other capitalists. The renewable ones are still the weaker though.
I got one anecdote but most I’ve observed fall under yours.
It actually is for both. In the case of private firms, it’s not necessarily to increase shareholder value, but instead to increase profits and market share due to competition. If they don’t, they’re outcompeted, ran out of business and/or taken over by their competitors.
Besides that, many many private firms are owned by private equity investment companies which can be even more persistent in pushing for higher profits.
Leftism is when hypocrite
You need gas (fertilizer, heavy industry). We gotta build some gas pipelines and terminals on the east coast first. Then we coming. 🍁🇪🇺
Send this to your friends and family on this important day. Or the one where he says he’s not trolling.
Oh here we go again…
Jesus fucking Christ, so there’s going to be shortage driven inflation in addition to the tariff inflation. We want to engineer the post-COVID supply chain shortage again, don’t we.
I second the smart switch strategy, especially when using a fixture with several bulbs.
As for ZigBee however, I’ve been using Home Assistant Yellow with its built-in ZigBee radio and ZHA, and it’s been flawless. Any issues I’ve have been a matter of reinforcing the network by adding a few smart plugs. I got over 60 devices hooked to it at the moment. Z-Wave has been just as problem-free. The really nice thing about having a Z-something network is the ability to use low power devices like battery powered sensors and switches/controls. Want a smart doorbell that plays a chime on all speakers and sends you a phone notification? Stick any ZigBee button to the outside of your door and program the automation. Its battery lasts two years.
The high CRI Philips Ultra Definition bulbs with a smart dimmer. I use them with a Z-Wave Leviton but there’s ZigBee options too if you don’t have a Z-Wave radio. Those bulbs make the most beautiful light… I use the warm ones 2700K or so because they’re the best for the eyes. It seems Cree and Feit also have high CRI bulbs but I haven’t tried them.
Oh man, Tim Wu was a trailblazer during the Net Neutrality war.
Very much so.
