Yeah I saw a post the other day about Chinese scientists developing biodegradable bamboo-based plastic alternative. Widespread adaption of it of course will be challenging because of entrenched power of fossil fuel companies, but also small business tyrants whining about cost-per-unit. But if they’re able to make it more affordable than petroleum based plastics then that would be a huge win.

Oh man, LTE 1 & 2 are some of my favourite albums of all time.
I didn’t learn until years later, but apparently a lot of the albums were basically improvised. I think 3 Minute Warning was entirely made up on the spot. They rented out a cabin in the woods for a couple of weeks/months and just pumped out some of the best, incredible prog rock ever written like it was nothing lol.

The way that it is done now, yes it’s basically a giant scam. However, I saw a documentary recently at the IMAX called Fungi where they demonstrated that certain types of mycelium have been found to grow on / break down plastic, and could (in theory at least) be used to effectively deal with our plastic waste issue. Pretty fascinating actually.
By the way, if you ever have the opportunity to see that film, do it, and get absolutely blazed as shit beforehand you will have a great, great experience.

Ultimately this is the core of it. During the Cold War the yanks at least tried to understand the Soviets: how they thought, what motivated them, what made them tick. They really put a lot of effort into understanding their enemy, and MAD was treated as a real actual threat to be avoided.
There is no such effort made today. It’s just rabid defense contractors sitting on their thrones of human skulls, in front of their Scrooge McDuck sized piles of money. All they want is domination and control. They want to destroy and balkanise Russia so they and their buddies can get more contracts and colonise the newly formed, broken up states and make even more money. All the while the media is chanting “Slava Ukraini!” and whipping the scratched libs into a genocidal frenzy.
