This is a fantastic post. Anecdotally - my hair is wavy, loose curls and wet detangling changed my life. Went from brush to wide tooth comb in shower and my hair stopped tangling. So I don’t know where they are drawing the line between wet & dry, but IME it lies way back towards straight hair on that spectrum. I would argue almost everyone would do better with comb in wet conditioned hair, not brushing dry hair.
