The number of Indians immigrating to Canada has more than quadrupled since 2013 due to policies aimed at attracting and retaining talent.

India has a large English-speaking population, they have a large pool of talent interested in emigrating to places like Canada. What’s so surprising about this?

When they get here and find that we have no where to live, inadequate healthcare and higher cost of living than any of the other options. I’ve lived here my whole life and am constantly surprised at the difference in price compare to the US (adjusting for the dollar) and I never imagined that not having a doctor was not only possible but going to be normal at any point in my life.

How is that in link with Indians specifically? Would mass immigrations of British or Aussies make things better?

I moved to BC from California last year and love it. With the exception of booze, mexican cheeses, and houses* most things are similarly priced.

*I lived just out side of LA so nearly anywhere would be cheaper except London or Vancouver.

Good to know, the most expensive places in the world to live are about the same cost of living :/

What’s surprising is “why?”. We can’t sustain the population we already have.

Because they’re already used to bad housing conditions, they’re the perfect immigrants. They won’t complain and are happy to have 10 people in an apartment

They also fill all the jobs Canadians won’t do and are already educated

It’s obvious why the gov focuses on getting them

That’s not the point. Landlords need to stack people like cordwood to make their investments pay off, and Tim Hortons franchise owners need people they can pay nothing and who are blissfully unaware of things like labour regulations.

Except Indians immigrating won’t work primarily in Tim Horton’s. That’s reserved for TFW.

Not to mention they are the single most populous nation on Earth.

Statistically speaking, there’s just more Indian people than any other nationality.

The government wants to keep bringing people in to this country even though our economy and infrastructure can’t support it. Anything to stay in power I guess.
