Mysterious posters that popped up in a Portland park claim recent events have resulted in an Ouija board ban.

Over the weekend, a poster reading "DUE TO RECENT EVENTS OUIJA BOARDS ARE NO LONGER PERMITTED AT FERNHILL PARK” was placed on the bathroom doors of Fernhill Park in northeast Portland.

“I’ve definitely never seen anyone play Ouija boards in the bathroom,” one man said while walking his dog.

“I’ve never seen Ouija boards in the park,” another person said, “just dogs, kids and sports.”

Online speculation over what the “event” could be took a fantastical turn, with one Reddit user saying it’s just another day in Portland —a portal to the underworld— and people are worried over nothing.

A spokesperson for Portland Parks & Rec confirmed the sign was not official.
