Toothpaste companies give free products to freshly graduated dental students, then ask them if they would recommend it. They get a bunch of “sure, whatever, yeah” replies and boom, “9 out of 10 dentists recommend! We can’t say 10 out of 10 because legal says that opens us up to lawsuits.”
