McConnell will do a McConnell. He’ll loudly announce the importance of healthcare and weakly denounce Kennedy. Then he’ll confirm Kennedy the next day.
It’s been a winning strategy his entire career. He gets the public recognition as a moderate to keep getting re-elected while maintaining a perfect right wing voting record for his base.
