“To you or I it looks just like a regular girlfriends house. But there’s a secret.

Hidden behind this door your girlfriend has built a complete tank plane submarine rotating house simulator.

Why? -scoffs- why not? It’s just cool. And when I heard about it, I had to come and see it for myself.”

Yeah, I always think it’s odd when people blame the 3rd party in these situations. It makes me think this dude looked at his girlfriend like he looks at property and its the same as getting his car stolen. She made a choice.

Because the guy is actually a POS as he considered her “his” as though she is property, so Tom “stole” her.

4chan is a place where anonymous people can post whatever they want with no account.

As they say on their own website - “only a fool would take anything posted here as fact.”

…I am beginning to realize that 2007 was 16 years ago. There’s a whole generation of people who were born after 4chan had its heyday. People who don’t even know what 4chan is.

So, uh, no. That’s not him. 4chan just does that stuff.

        Hi, actual Tom Scott here

I can confirm that this 4chan post was indeed made by me and that the story of me making out with this guys girlfriend is also true. Chick had jugs like you wouldn’t believe it. Bitch as loser just sat there and cried. Anyway, I’m off to Poland to film a video about a really interesting public toilet they have there.

        Tom Scott out.

PS: Matt Gray is also here with me.

Hi it’s me, Matt Grey. I also do youtube, sometimes.

Next video, he’s standing in a volcanic wasteland or something

“I’m here at what is widely considered to be the harshest, most inhospitable, shit hole of the planet. This volcano is irrelevant because I’m talking about…”

He pulls up a laptop and points it at the screen

There is no way in hell he would ever post to 4chan.

He made a long weepy post on his site how he would never use Reddit of all places, and how embarrassed he would be if “real world people” ever thought he was on it. He is exactly as insufferable and self righteous as you can imagine.

I don’t think it was Tom. That sentence starting with “While” is not a complete sentence, which is suspicious because Tom is very precise with his language and is a nerd about grammar (he has made videos about linguistics). There are also a few other questionable grammar choices like the comma after “though” (I think there should either be no comma, or a comma both before and after?) Also, the comma after “thanks and regards” either needs to be followed by an “and” or it should have been replaced by a period or exclamation point.

I think I can give some insight into this. I grew up in the UK in the same sociocultural bubble that Tom did, although a live in another country now. I have also been called skinny and not very manly, and people have asked me once or twice if I’m gay. When I was younger I cared a lot about Following the Rules and being liked by everyone. Ie. typical Nice Guy stuff. I was also always quite tense, especially with my sexuality around girls. Mine and Tom’s thing is quite common in the UK and after giving it some thought I think what does it is the authoritarian upbringing. I went through the British school system, and their insistence on uniforms, graceless punishments for normal human mistakes like forgetting your PE kit, and the expectation that you will be a Responsible Young Adult (and not a wild teenager) frightened the cheekiness out of me when I was 7 and made me into what you see there. I’m 20 and it’s only started coming back to me in the past couple of years. I have no other childhood trauma so this is what it’s got to be.

you forgot to mention the fact that all most all secondary schools here are single sex.

I barely talked to post puberty women at all until i was in my late teens

you miss out on a lot of primary socialisation in that kind of environment

Depends on where you live I guess. One of my friends at Uni grew up in quite a posh area and went to an all-boys grammar school, but I’m pretty sure mixed-sex is the norm. I mean my first ever friend in primary school was a girl, it’s just that all the ones after that were boys and I just stuck with male friends after that. Doesn’t help that I started getting crushes on the girls in class when puberty hit so it was even harder to approach them normally

It’s 4chan, of course it’s made up. That said who knows what Tom would do. We don’t know a thing about him outside of what he chooses to show on youtube. There have been enough scandals with celebs who seemed nice to show that we don’t know who people really are. Not saying he is an asshole, he could be perfectly nice, just that we don’t know.

Why wouldn’t they be? Anons story implies that he’s less attractive than Tom Scott, who’s not exactly a pillar of traditional masculinity. Also it’s 4chan, what do you expect? /tv/ isnt as bad as /pol/ or /b/, but it’s still up there as one of the worst boards on the site.

They feed on toxicity, it’s the only way they know that gets the anger-produced adrenaline flowing through their veins. It’s addictive. Makes them feel alive and living, rather than festering in a rubbish-filled room dying a day at a time.

Tom Scott is insufferably uncharasmatic. Sure his content is excellent, but he’s stupidly unfunny, awkward to watch with other people on camera, and I imagine would be an absolute bore to talk to.
