When you do your registration every year or so… you get taxed based on distance traveled. In a perfect world it’s Distance traveled * weight factor. Heavier vehicles do more damage to the roads.
This is not hard to think about and doesn’t require WSJ to write about.
Road use taxes will become a thing somehow. Roads cost money, need to be paid somehow, and whatever we get won’t be perfect.
