I linked a Warlockracy video because I really enjoy his choice of games and presentation.
Other channels I really enjoy: Mandalore, Grim Beard, Civvie11, Oboeshoesgames, and Boulder Punch.
If you can’t tell, I like longform, scripted and edited videos on older games and niche games and mods.
Dunkey, Let’s Game It Out, NakeyJakey, Digital Foundry, and Gameranx are the ones I watch most regularly.
The Architect of Games and Razbuten are fun ones if you like video essays, and Keenengraz is great for finding lots of insane free games to play. ThatGuyGlen has some cool, short docu-style videos on the making of indie games that are really well done.
I’m sure I’m forgetting plenty, but those are some of my favorites, for sure.
Also +1 for digital foundry. Great hosts who look at both console/pc games, old and new, with technical or general analysis
Id add Skillup and ACG to this list as well. For more technical DF style stuff, GamersNexus is the best PC gaming channel on youtube
U Can Beat Videogames and quinbobin are two smaller channels I really like.
“Hey its me, Videogamedunkey!”
“Hey guys it’s me, Cr1tikal!”
BigMoist =? Dunkey
It was a reference to one of his videos where he joined Overwatch voice chat with another Youtuber (I want to say Ethan Klein) and was messing with the rest of the team. They’re different people.
I’ve been watching videogamedunkey since I was a highschool freshman. I love his humour, style, and his insights in games and other media.
I second this, he’s always been so unique and hilarious, yet oddly genuine.
Mandalore, Hbomberguy, Jwlar, The Dadliest Man, MattKC, Oxhorn, Joseph Anderson, Your Favourite Son, Summoning Salt, Noodle, Avalanche Reviews, Monty Zander, Boulder Punch, The Nth Review, King K
Maybe some others, but those are the ones that jumped out in my Sub list!
Thank you so much for this, as soon as I read that you put Mandalore first on the list, I went through all your recommendations and found a couple I didn’t know about (loving Jwlar right now).
You’re most welcome! Im usually a fan of more long form than Mandalore, but I can easily put on a mix of their videos for hours 😍
Yeah me too, Joseph Anderson is my absolute favorite. I remember the first time I came across his channel back when he revisited his fallout 4 review, no one does it like him!
He’s next level when it comes to long form; excellent detail and perspective. I appreciate his literary background playing into his analysis
2nd for AmbiguousAmphibian. My wife isn’t a gamer, but she loves to watch his videos with me. He always works in some absurd narration and social commentary.
100% the boyf tunes out on most my gaming YTer bullshit but enjoys AA, the absurdity and the Sims help 😅
Gotta be SovietWomble and his “Random Bullshittery” episodes!
It’s usually 10-20 minutes of high quality sillyness realesed every month or so, although he’s been doing some longform video essays too in recent years
(Warning: occasional strong language)
SovietWomble’s csgo videos were pretty funny
Yesssss. Almost forgot about the guy. He’s still making funny videos along with longer “essays”, no?
Definately Soviet + videogamedunkey
Videogamedunkey and NakeyJakey make some great/hilarious content.
There’s also a soft spot in my heart for Jerma985 though these days he does twitch and only occasionally posts clips to his second channel.
Real Civil Engineer for messing about in building games like KSP, Cities Skylines
Let’s Game it Out for breaking games
The SPiffing Brit for finding funny exploits
Video Game Dunkey for reviews.

A couple ones with longer videos, and some music-related channels are my (current) favourites.

And also shoutout to TotalBiscuit. Still do miss his quality content. Haven’t seen any channel nowadays come close to it.
Wirtual definitely does a great job of the long form history focused deep dives on Trackmania.
shoutout to simpleflips
I like Quill18 as a non-hypey gamer who plays a nice array of games. He’s mostly into stategic sims, but ventures out to other game types every now and than. He has a solid understanding of the games he plays, yet he doesn’t cheese it.
love his fundraising streams too!
Jacob Geller, although his videos are often about much more than just video games.
i love jacob geller! i only recently got introduced to his videos but he has some of the best written videos about games (and other stuff) on youtube, and he spotlights a lot of indie/obscure art games that i wouldn’t have found and appreciated otherwise.
If you care about the technology behind games, Digital Foundry is fantastic
Northernlion is my favorite, and he absolutely pumps out the content. His banter is perfect for me.
Yeah I’ve been subbed to him since around 2012/13. Used to watch his Binding of Issac on and off where the banter was top tier as he got so good at the game it was all muscle memory.
I now watch his Super Auto Pets videos on and off as well which has replaced the Binding of Issac content.
In both cases he put out more content than I can consume so I’ll always have content to watch.
They stopped in December just gone, but here is a site where playlists have been made for all the YouTube content.
I like DarkViperAU. He’s a GTA5 speedrunner, something I had never followed, but his explanations and general style is great for me. His “one hit KO” series, where he attempts to complete GTA5 without taking any damage, is a fun place to start. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLAnJ4ZuTYaeGOdVzYfhfZUgjVcyCeYVwO
I don’t watch that much Youtube nowadays (don’t have much free time), but when I do, I enjoy these channels the most:
- Girlfriend Reviews: Entertaining, funny, and wholesome reviews. Really like their dynamic;
- GPLaps: Very interesting simracing channel, you get regular simracing content but also some very interesting videos about historic races, cars, tracks, etc., that he recreates with mods;
- Kilian Experience whenever he feels like uploading. Has been branching to other stuff aside from gaming lately;
- LordKnight: Fighting game-focused channel. Initially subscribed because he was the Millia player outside Japan but switched to Baiken since. Still has good, insightful content.
On PeerTube, there’s BoilingSteam, who mainly focuses on PC gaming on Linux. I’d like to get a better feel for what’s on there regarding gaming channels and whatnot. If you know any you’d recommend, I’d really appreciate if you could mention them.
