Even if I actually wind up liking the movie, like 90% of the trailers are THUMPTHUMPTHUMP jumpcutty pretentious nonsense and make the movies look like shit.
The only good that can come of this is the likely Screen Rant Movie Pitch treatment on Youtube.

I only noticed it today and it’s worth a few dunks.
Still in awe that Capcom okayed this presumably because they thought the average non-gamer would be too incredulous to buy into the premise of bonepunk and cool monsters and the beauty of nature and jolly cooperation, no instead we gotta see bootboys try to shoot a Diablos in a humvee or whatever.
Doom’s modern version almost did the bootbrained bullshit until it was torn down and built up again into what it now is.

They probably just handed the keys to the military for funding. Army has been recruiting using anime and video games a ton lately so they might have even approached Capcom first.

I’m not really sure why they went the isekai route. The plot in the games is the weakest point and the managed to make it worse.

The plot in the games could have been fine for a movie if they just embraced it and launched from there, which works for most video game movies that actually do that.

There’s plenty of western players of Monster Hunter games. I think this was a self-inflicted injury in the production because old rich fucks don’t get it.
Americans obviously can’t wrap their head around anyone other than an OORAH soldier or a cop who doesn’t do things by the book and is hated by the stupid chief being a protagonist.
In many such cases, the veteran boot/badge becomes a faaaaaather and demonstrates that by vengeance-driven violence against the other that fridged his wife and/or kidnapped some daughter figure.

That looks really bad, but then so were the resident evil movies and I enjoyed those.
I can enjoy bad movies but bootbrained bad movies tend to rub me the wrong way. Like the Michael Bay slime all over his Transformers films.
