#redditmigration #reddit One of my friends is a mod of a very large subreddit that went private for the blackout. Last night she received a message saying that she had been stripped of her moderator rights and the subreddit was taken public again. To be very clear, the subreddit members had specifically voted in favor of going private. It seems like reddit will stoop lower and lower to try and break the blackout. I'm seething.

    I’m surprised how quickly they started doing this. Couldn’t weather the protest for even two days.

      I’m not surprised by the speed since the protests were so public. But in the case of the Tumblr sub it sounds like a “power mod” revealed themselves as an actual admin, and that does surprise me if it’s true.

      We always knew admins used alts, and suspected that’s who some/most power mods were, but this would be the first time I’ve seen them take the mask off so blatantly.

    In the linked discussion, the sub and the mod are both named - so I’m assuming I’m ok to re-post that here - it is r/tumblr and u/taytay_is_god

    Please post this in as many places as you can, including /r/ModCoord, /r/RedditAlternatives and /r/Save3rdPartyApps (hate to say it, but it’ll probably get more visibility there than on here). It would be great if we could find a way of getting this story into the press, too, but I’m not sure how to go about doing that.

    On the one hand, I’m glad the Reddit mods are eating dirt, but on the other, man, fuck Reddit
