AI: Scientists from the University of Hohenheim are conducting research into the possibility of using solar farms to create rain. According to their simulations, large, dark solar panels are capable of causing updrafts and convection, leading to cloud formation and rainfall. If implemented at a city scale, such a scheme could provide enough water to feed more than 30,000 people in a year. However, the rain-producing potential of solar farms remains to be explored and confirmed, while also taking into account possible changes in wind patterns and the movement of tropical rain bands.
