If you need to ask their permission, which they can cut off at any time, and you need their custom software, which they could break at any time, then I might argue that they don’t generally have bootloader unlocking.

Last I saw it was some abomination where you need to wait a month and need Asus’s windows tool?
So it seems like root isn’t even possible on the Zenfone 9 anymore. But I havet confirmed it yet.

I actually ended up sending mine back when I found out I couldn’t root it. Such a shame.

I didn’t even know you could root Asus phones. The only ones I knew that you could without any hassle was Google and Sony.

True but they destroy it in the last two years because of the awful 888 and 8g1.
If true, that’s quite a bit better than Samsung (at least their US models).
