    2nd harvest is in:

Those little ones take faar too long to pick. Dense little shrubs and trying to navigate to the middle with scissors is a PITA. Still don’t really know what they are. Probably birdseye but they taste different to the shop ones.

And finally full sized habs (and hot af) unlike last year.

Edit… ooh looks like they’ve changed the forecast… ouch.

Hope the organisers of moomba have thought about cooling stations / misting spots.

Ooh spicy. I find that home grown chillos taste different to the shop ones even if they’re more or less the same variety. Got that terroir going on

        terroir

        TIL a word!

        I was reading this today:

        https://www.dmagazine.com/food-drink/2023/05/why-jalapeno-peppers-less-spicy-blame-aggies/

And it got me thinking where the little ones above came from originally. I planted maybe 2, 15+ yrs ago just as little hobby (so I’m guessing they were from woolies) and they kept going. Wasn’t buying seeds just saving the ones from those (they pretty much only stocked birdseye then). And from memory they were a lot smaller.

After picking them today, safe to say if I were a farmer I’d selecting for size and I wonder if that’s what happened here too. hrmm.

Dude, I only just got around to reading that article but it was hugely fascinating. I do notice the commercial chillis in .au have much thicker flesh and tougher skins than what I’m used to in Asia - bred for better storage and transport properties but they’re terrible for mashing into paste :(

Just saw it myself too, holy hell they bumped up the temps on Sun and Mon. I’m meant to be going out to Ballarat on Sunday on the v/line, hope the tracks don’t melt or whatever bs often happens on a string of hot days.

I wonder if this is the hottest streak we’ve had since 2019/2020

Just looked too. Eeek. Good weekend to wash blankets, pillows and cushions too if you are so minded. Definitely an early shop on Saturday tho, then some heavy duty hibernation.

Morning all. One of my favourite people resigned at work and today is her last day 😢 Elder minipeeler has started therapy but is still not going to school 😕 Miniest has decided today she is joining him, and I didn’t have the time or energy to argue about it 🤬😔 Old friend is in Australia for a week and is coming over for dinner tomorrow night 😃 Managed to get a load of washing done because I wasn’t trying to get kids ready for school 😐

    😢+😕+🤬+😔+😃+😐=?

I just read that it has been ten years since that MH370 plane went missing. Honestly, the older I get, the more time blurs.

7/10 too - we need to up our numbat game to support Nellie. I admit that I had to guess the scientific name (but got it right for all the wrong reasons).

Just finished the psychometric test for that possible job. Gotta say, not a fan of that kind of stuff.

How can you possibly judge a person based on a ridiculous “test”?

The companies have been sold these tests by the companies that designed them. It’s all pseudoscience shite.

I hate them so much, they utterly useless and a complete waste of time for everyone involved.

Slight headache and drowsiness. But got a few loads of washing done, as well as the dishes. Overall a relatively productive day.

Pasta bake for dinner, which is just leftover pasta in a dish with cheese on top… Which was made from the roast pork and veggies mein liebe made. Not a single scrap wasted in this house.

Booked a last minute trip to Hobart as it didn’t feel like I was making the most of my leave unless I got away for a bit of it. Got here today and went to the summit of Mt Wellington. So so beautiful. The city is great too from what I’ve seen, feels like a country town in Victoria. MONA planned for tomorrow.

🤦🏼‍♂️ ffs I was meant to call and cancel that dodgy newspaper thing, but I forgot to and they charged me 18 dollars for it. That’s not that much, but I literally just signed up to read a single article, which wasn’t even a free trial they still charged me like 2 dollars for it. :/

They don’t even give you a heads up, hell, not even a courtesy “wait until days end”, they take their fee at exactly midnight, and that’s the end of it. Absolute scumbags.

On the plus side, if anybody has any articles you want from the Wimmera mail times, hmu and I’ll send you the content. Unfortunately there’s not even that much content in most of them, it’s usually just a couple of sentences about something mundane.

18 dollars Jesus Christ I’m an idiot

You’re not an idiot, you just forgot. Free trials plan on doing that to people.

Ps. Not really relevant but be careful of renting to own appliances or phones too, you end up paying much higher than the actual cost of the item

Nah you’re not an idiot. I kept forgetting to cancel my Xbox game pass sub for months 😅

Idk if it will help, but if you want to read an article that’s paywalled, I use the website 12ft ladder (just Google it). You can paste the article URL into this site and it will remove paywalls and the like. It isn’t 100%, but it works often enough :)

I did try to get the article open with 12ft but it didn’t work. And unfortunately the WMT was the only one with an article on what I was looking for :/

But thank you, I appreciate the rec. 12ft is ♥️
