Thing is these types of people are losing, gaming has opened up into so many different niches and different types of communities. You have more small time indie devs via ich.io making games that are either very artistic in expression or done with the goal of showing the perspectives of different groups, Pagan Autogeny for one (pretty much a game metaphor for transitioning).
You even have wholesome games, which ‘Gamers’ despise, with he focus of unwinding and relaxing as well as even the major gaming industry realizing including more people into games means more money (yes trite capitalist shit) but hey it gets the ball rolling with having more than just angry depressed buzzcut white man as the protag (mid 2010s action protags anyone?).
