New York Judge Merchan imposed a gag order on Tuesday that prohibits #Trump from attacking witnesses, prosecutors and jurors, the latest effort to rein in the former president’s wrathful rhetoric about his legal opponents.

The judge imposed the order at the request of the Manhattan district attorney’s office, which brought the case against Trump.

    2/ Via Lisa Rubin:

    Perhaps most importantly, he cannot talk abt prospective or actual jurors, period. That matters bc even though the pub won’t know their names, Trump himself has statutory right to know names of jurors in this NY state proceeding.

    It’s common in this case for judge to release orders or opinions days after they are signed. But this 1? Signed today, same day Trump went after Cohen on Truth Soc & day after he attacked a senior lawyer in the DA’s office while cameras rolled.

    @GottaLaff@mastodon.social
    I wonder if Truth Social will have to remove his posts?
    “Under the judge’s gag order, Mr. Trump cannot make, or direct others to make, statements about witnesses concerning their roles in the case. Mr. Trump is also barred from commenting on prosecutors and court staff.”
    #TruthSocial
    I wonder if Trump posting attacks on Truth Social be a “material event,” that could hurt the stock?

      @rogue_corq@mas.corq.co @GottaLaff@mastodon.social The last gag order issued (I think by Engoran?) did rein him in. He tested it but ultimately obeyed when the judge threatened fines and jail time
