I don’t think I’ve seen any Threads content on kbin.social nor fedia.io ever. I feel if it was federating I’d see lots of it, no? Since they’re so much larger?

tl;dr: You can currently follow and see threads accounts on Kbin on the microblog tab if your server isn’t defederated, but some threads accounts don’t show up properly yet. It’s hard to actually find the accounts without using a direct link too (ex: https://fedia.io/u/@whitehouse@threads.net). Lemmy cannot see threads content at all yet because we can only see replies and interactions with lemmy or kbin posts, which threads can’t do yet.

Long answer: For Kbin, you can on the microblogging section if you can catch one before it disappears or going directly to their account url but won’t find any on kbin/lemmy post replies until threads enables full federation (for the same reason Lemmy can’t). Here’s zuckerberg’s account on fedia https://fedia.io/u/@zuck@threads.net.

Lemmy users can’t see any users from other software unless they comment on a lemmy post directly or @tag a lemmy community, since threads can’t see our posts that means Lemmy can never see threads content until they enable full federation and someone starts interacting with us.

I tried to search some more accounts that have posted more recently but they wouldn’t show up on Fedia, just got 404 so it’s possible that Fedia de-federated from Threads shortly after federation started, or that there’s just some issues with it working properly.

edit: the white house account shows up too and they posted yesterday https://fedia.io/u/@whitehouse@threads.net, so it’s not defederated it seems, just a bit buggy with showing accounts. Maybe it doesn’t sync someone’s account unless a user does something specific on kbin searching their account or something like that so that the instance doesn’t get overwhelmed, would also explain why I can only seem to load really popular accounts.

On Mastodon it starts syncing if you just search the direct url to someone’s account in the searchbox and wait a few seconds, I tried that on fedia but it didn’t seem to work. Usually lemmy and kbin initially federate by someone searching the link to or !community@instance.domain in the searchbox and waiting 5-10 seconds so I thought that would work for threads accounts too
