The Reddit ban made me think I’d find the community here… Is there another sub somewhere or…?
We need to make more people aware of this sub
DMing people on reddit will make a big difference.
Probably the only way given this https://lemmy.whynotdrs.org/comment/164962
I’ve been messaging people from Reddit that post or comment about censorship. Hit them with our lemmy instance link lemmy.whynotdrs.org
Flair is the way!
Well for one thing there aren’t bots or shills
we’re all just chilling
It will get busier. There are literally dozens of us.
I just got here! With more to follow!
I just got here give it time. No bots here lol
The suppression over there is working somewhat.
It is. Though, won’t last long.
We’re coming. 🫡
We’re on Discord too. I can send the invite link if you haven’t had one already.
But Discord sucks. They demand phone numbers if you try to be private. Typical evil big tech.
Discord is definitely not the long term solution. I don’t believe any for profit centralized platform could be.
https://matrix.org is the alternative. Look at the Why not Discord? section at https://joinmatrix.org/guide/matrix-vs-discord
First I’ve heard of it. Thanks for the link.
Let the great migration begin!
Just made it here. Nice to be able to comment. Low karma kept me lurking. Never cared enough to farm for that much karma to meet limits
hi
Don’t think so. However, this community is not on Lemmy.world and is not discoverable in their search tool, which doesn’t help.
These communities are on a separate instance than lemmy.world, but both instances are federated and can interact with each other.
The more users of this instance go and interact on lemmy.world servers (comments will show this home instance name) folks may click and join in.
And if you signed up on lemmy.world and subscribed to any of the communities here it will show up in their “all” feed over there.
I really don’t understand lemmy anyway so i’m already surprised there is anyone here. hey guys, what’s up
It will get bigger. (that’s what … he said?)
Makes me think how about how many bots and fake apes there really r……I imagine there’s a ton of baby apes too who have bought some GME in their broker or robinhood/cash app and participate in the Reddit communities more for social interaction than actually being a part of the play on any sort of serious level
Most of us like myself probably just zen as fk and doesn’t bother as much. We know what needs to be done and continue to do so.
I think this community will grow, it’ll just take some time and getting used to the layout and format. I’ll admit I’m going through the learning curve right now but Reddit will be so insanely compromised once they go live with their IPO and decentralization is the way - so I’m willing to go through the discomfort now to reap the rewards later.
This is a big thing that, I think, many miss - including myself.
Lemmy is decentralized - which brings with it a lot of different benefits and drawbacks. Currently, one drawback is a relative dearth of users compared to some other platforms. That will most certainly change, though.
