These “critical fire” danger warnings from NOAA are really starting to wear on me. Living in drought conditions for 2 years is killing everything. I watch the radar and there is rain falling all around me, but very few drops for this area. And living in the middle of a forest makes for uneasy sleep.

It might be our turn to burn like Canada.

The fire near Waseca was uncomfortably close to my inlaws. I agree, this is going to be the summer of out of control fires unless we can actually get a good amount of rain.

Between the drought and the penchant for humans to want to preserve the status quo, the fire burdens are high and are catastrophically near explosion. It’s a tinder box and the firebugs are licking their chops…

I am not in Minnesota but I agree. Had a forest fire within 40 miles of my house and it was terrifying. Refreshing fire maps, keeping track of wind direction the constant fear, not sleeping solidly bc everytime I wake up I check the fire map. I am so sorry you are going through this. You are (unfortunately) not alone. Please make sure you have an overnight bag with current medications, important documents and clothing ready to go incase the worst happens.
