Fall in love! Make noise! Signals the developers can use when deciding what to build out.

The big issue is that the devs have significantly better understanding of the reasons behind cancelling certain pieces of content then players.

Maybe it sounds cool on the surface level but it… simply cannot be balanced, changes the gameplay meta in significant ways away from what the devs are going for, isn’t able to be implemented well due to engine limitations, is significantly less fun in practice than in theory… etc.

Sorry, I’ve just seen how fucking much the Elite Dangerous (Space Trading/Exploration/Dogfighting Sim) community discourse has been absolutely ruined by people who can’t accept that the devs will never implement ship interiors.

People already complain that station and fleet carrier interiors are neat for the first 30 minutes of exploring the scenery, then useless except as a far slower way to access existing menus. The devs themselves say that there is no way that they can make explorable ship interiors meaningful to gameplay in any way unless they completely fuck to pieces the current (working and well established) gameplay loops. The devs also cite issues with scale inconsistencies already in game being further exacerbated by trying to fit realistic interiors inside the space of the ship models (they can’t make it a separate “map” so to speak). It would end up just being an extra delay to entering/exiting your ship. Plus, the dev team already has their hands more than full with more meaningful and impactful work with bugfixing and regularly evolving/updating content.

It’s been made abundantly clear why it won’t work, and won’t be worth the dev time to do, despite (if I remeber right) there existing some rough models in the game for one of the ships. But Star Citizen has it, so clearly ED needs it and it would be so coooool

Every single fucking online discussion about future plans for the game, features, and content is overwhelmingly dominated by tired rehashes of people claiming that they have figured out how to make ship interiors work, or people saying that the game is shit or dying becauss the devs refuse to add them.

      It is absolutely insufferable.

Especially in a game like Helldivers 2, where the dev team is regularly interacting with players, and regularly adding new features and content to the game world based off player action, then I think everyone needs to trust the fucking devs to be competent enough to ask for feedback or guidance on what to prioritize if they need it.

This isn’t some reverse psychology bullshit. Just enjoy what they add as it comes out. You’ll legitimately have more fun than if you’re sitting around pining for datamined stuff that may never see the light of day.

If the devs couldn’t figure this shit out themselves then the game wouldn’t already be this good. If you think a game this big has development plans so easily swayed, you’ve never worked on a (professional company sized) big team/big project that has made it to completion before.

My favorite gaming experiences, and most people I’ve spoken to, are when a game can surprise me. When I don’t know fucking everything and can go “wow”.

Please just chill out and trust the devs to know what they’re doing until they show significant evidence that they don’t.

But how cool would they be if they did?

Your totally right though, they have more important things to focus on. They have enough going on just making odessy better.

Yeah, I have a similar experience with trains in Captain of Industry. It would be a massive amount of work for no significant benefit and doesn’t really fit the theme of the game, but Factorio amd Satisfactory have them so they must be added.

E:D has its own can of issues, namely FDev. They tend to come out with half-baked content and never improve or refine it. I’ve never felt so ripped off by a purchase, after buying Horizons.

Other than that, I played a lot of Helldivers 1 and even though the war metagame was more “hands-off” (IIRC it was more like an RTS AI opponent), they managed to make it interesting and I trust their MO of dropping surprises for players and letting them be the “frontline media” showcasing new stuff.

We got surprised by a walker a few weeks ago and oh boy it was terrifying and memorable

It doesn’t white work that way in Helldivers. A lot of special equipment and strategems we earn are determined by our success on Major Orders. Our failure on Tibit a while back cost us cluster rockets to help with anti-air.

Says you. It could just mean things players don’t get now, won’t be seen for ages. So datamined content will sit for a long time, undeveloped.

The way I’m interpreting it is that the items were already developed and implemented, since they would need to be ready if the order was won instead. Since it was lost, the development effort is then just wasted. Which is silly.

It’s not gone forever. We just won’t get it until it becomes a relevant story point again. We have to work together as a community to succeed in this game.

The bots only just officially got Factory Striders. They were seen before on high difficulty missions but only rarely. Now there are mid level difficulty missions to down them.

So far, Arrowhead has been nothing short of impressive with what they’ve put out. I think it’s time to trust the devs and wait.

Okay but the quad autocannon mech AND the personal laser-guided missile silo better both be on the Eventually list.
