What show is this, is that actually gay porn, and is it good. The anime not the mag. Although if the mag is good and real I’m interested in that too. My partner keeps telling me to show them every gay anime that isn’t a slice of life so I’m on the hunt.

it is in fact lesbian porn. more explicit in the manga apparently, i haven’t seen either

      for other gay anime:

      • showa genroku rakugo shinju: season 1 is a slow burn drama about a closeted gay man coming of age in 1940s japan and making his way into the world of rakugo (japanese type of theater) through the 50s. season 2 is about him teaching his (straight) successor
      • bang brave bang bravern: a love triangle between two men and a giant robot (who is also a man)
      • mobile suit gundam: specifically char’s counterattack, but you really need the context of both 0079 and zeta gundam to understand it. but it is (subtextually but also the director said it was) very much about these men not being able to handle how much they love each other
      • doukyuusei: my ex watched it while high and it turned her bisexual (her words, not mine) which is SOME kind of endorsement. also it was good. maybe too slice of life? but it’s a movie so maybe they could let it count
      • cherry magic! thirty years of virginity can make you a wizard?!: mostly recommending this one for the very funny title (and because i feel bad for not having many mlm anime in the tank) but i have a friend (of sometimes questionable taste but i’ll trust them) who says it’s very good

these ones are lesbians (don’t know if also acceptable or if your partner specifically wants dudes). there’s more of these because i’m a lesbian

      • revolutionary girl utena: i assume you’re aware of this one, but it is very much gay and is also the greatest anime ever made. no one in this show is straight, the men are ALSO all queer. lotsa content warnings, don’t watch this without checking those out (but i need to emphasize
      • otherside picnic: based on novels that are gay* but the first season ends before they get together and sadly i feel like a continuation is unlikely. but they’re still very gay, just in the dancing around each other stage rather than the kissing each other stage
      • bloom into you: based on a manga that it doesn’t completely cover, but it’s a good quiet gay drama. maybe too close to slice of life for your partner’s tastes, given the high school setting
      • revue starlight: the weirdest audition for a high school theater program i’ve ever seen. a few girls are competing for the lead, but this manifests as them having beautifully animated sword fights under the supervision of a giraffe. fascinating show with a lot of stuff to say about the nature of art and passion. the movie is a 10/10, but the show isn’t quite as good, but both are very gay
      • liz and the blue bird: absolutely devastating quiet drama about the relationship between two girls in a high school band. gorgeous, just absolutely beautiful. maybe a little slice of life but it’s a movie and it’s really hard hitting emotionally so i don’t think it counts
      • flip flappers: weird surreal magical girl show that i can’t really say much about beyond “it’s good” and “i wish it was less horny about these middle schoolers”
      • turn a gundam: the main character of this is a transgender woman to me (like i actually think this is a semi-intended read) and so this becomes about lesbians. but also it’s just incredible and i like recommending it whenever i can

*one of the girls in otherside picnic is aspec and has a lot of thoughts about this so it’s a little complicated but they kiss each other a lot and eventually fuck

it is in fact lesbian porn. more explicit in the manga apparently

I watched it after this thread, and it’s surprisingly good for how completely and utterly vile it is at a conceptual level. It’s explicitly gay, the protagonist is a gross piece of shit but not as bad as, say, Rae Taylor from I’m in Love with the Villainess because the relationship she ends up in is a mutual thing and not some dehumanizing reward for clever plotting and saving the day, and it’s somewhat less cumbrained than it looks.

It’s still fundamentally gross and has a lot of bad shit in it, though.

Weirdly the uncensored anime is actually more explicit than the manga which is comparatively censored and doesn’t linger on the most explicit scenes the way the anime does.

Overall, I would not recommend either version of it to anyone who doesn’t have the same exact sort of basically-ace-but-entertained-by-weird-horny-slop brainworms I do.

This is the gayest list ever. Actually they want more lesbian stuff probably than dudes but they aren’t too picky with their desire for non heteronormativity. Thank you!

the two best anime here if you specifically want gay shit are revolutionary girl utena (must watch if you haven’t, cannot emphasize enough how opposed to heteronormativity and patriarchy it is) and liz and the blue bird. showa genroku and turn a gundam are also great but the gay is less central

otherside picnic and bloom into you are both great if you read them, the anime aren’t as good (on account of being unfinished). the otherside picnic novels are incredible, and the bloom into you manga is even better
