Also if every argument you have against a group you don’t like is “but what if they were [the Nazis, KKK, etc]???” then you’re just admitting that the group you’re complaining is distinct from those recognizable groups and distinct enough that you don’t just call the group “neo-KKK” or some shit.

    But hey.

This is the same group that seems to think Cuban (indigenous aside) is a “race” and thus calling a guy with a Cuban-American mom a class-related (not even “ethnic” or “racial”) “slur” is “racist.” No, he’s just a gusano. A little slimy worm. For more information go watch or read transcripts from Fidel Castro’s speeches. I guess the Cuban guy was just racist against all those Cuban-Americans who fled to Miami and then decided to keep trying to overthrow the revolution.

There aren’t really any indigenous Cubans anymore. They died several hundred years ago. I think Dominica is one of the few countries left with an actual indigenous Carib population and it’s tiny

I just remember looking into the demographics a few years ago (guess why…) and seeing some small percentage of Cubans identity as Taino. I’m not well-read… at all… so, just wanted to leave room for that exception.

On a tangent side thought I just had, I do enjoy how many Americans get incredibly butthurt over calling Cubans white. Like calling Che or Fidel white pisses off a lot of people. I don’t really want to poke this bear, but it’s kinda funny how just saying they were white will make such a wide group of people pull out calipers and demand I explain how I arrived at their whiteness.

It’s probably because Americans don’t consider white Latin Americans to be white. If they have darker features they’re called “white passing” and if they have features like blonde hair and blue eyes they’re seen as not really being Latin American. It’s pretty annoying.
