    Scientists hoped to prove civilization could alter the path of a menacing asteroid — should one be on a collision course with our planet — and they successfully nudged the (non-threatening) 525-foot-wide space rock.

    Nice.

    The 14,000 mph DART impact was like slamming a spacecraft the size of a vending machine into a space rock the size of a stadium.

    Hmmm.

      Love that analogy, most of us have been at a stadium and seen a vending machine there, and so can really feel how insignificant it is in comparison.

      Yeah, that second sentence has such a weird wording. It either was like slamming a vending machine into a stadium, or it was slamming an X-sized spacecraft into a Y-sized space rock. Why have that “like” there?
