Music is really the only cultural thing that Canada is able to stand up for itself. Forcing broadcasters to dedicate X amount of time to domestic artists is important to prevent American media conglomerates from boxing out small and independent artists.
There are so many incredible artists from Canada and for some reason it’s really hard for the majority of them to breakout in the states even if the quality of music is up to lar or often better than a lot of what’s popular in the USA. It’s always interested me.
