Fedora has an ableism problem but woe to you if you point it out.
Nice read. Thanks for sharing.
My question is why don’t they ask IBM? They’re downstream from this issue, get them to force the issue as they are the ones with the money.
Blocking someone right away for posting “patches welcome”? Wow, way to make yourself look like the bad guy right from the get go.
My favorite part is where you say that you are done with the drama… Dude, you are the one causing the drama.
That phrase was used in a way that is dismissive, passive aggressive and shuts down the whole conversation.
Sorry, I’m just not reading it that way. It wasn’t a direct reply, and it was directed at the larger Fedora community by someone whose job it is to help direct the community.
There also wasn’t much of a conversation to shut down, since up until that point it was just a lot of demands being made in a rather blunt and rude way.
Thanks for sharing, I think you raise great points about the FOSS community.
I also have an iPhone due to my disability, Android isn’t even an option. It was interesting to read that blind users are in a similar predicament. The idea to move away from bigtec is just inconceivable for something where I rely on accessibility.
I’m not the author of the blog post. That would be @aral@mastodon.ar.al.
Ah sorry, I misunderstood the title
That’s interesting that Android isn’t an option for the visually impaired, since they have on-device captioning for all sounds played through the device for the hearing impaired. Well, not all Androids, but Pixel Phones do. It’s a shame that they’ve missed the mark for the visually impaired, since they’ve provided a great service for the hearing impaired.
