I’m getting a hour-glass.
Much better than a regular timer when you’re doing the “Pomodoro” method and have to get something done. But I also have a nice lava-lamp, which is great when you’re listening to music. And a record-player for vinyl CDs. And fidget toys for my ADHD and Autism (to stim while I’m doing something).
I’ll be honest: I need eitiher:
Portability
Analog
If I can’t carry it or if it’s not mechanical, the i don’t care.
I like the tactility and deliberate nature of pulling out a vinyl, setting the needle and listening to music. The appeal is not that it is analog, per se, but the intentionality of listening to music as its own activity.
Oho
Something of its own sake? Intrinsic motivation and action?
…I like it.
If I can’t carry it or if it’s not mechanical, the i don’t care.
Have you looked into mechanical film cameras? They’re pretty neat. Since you’re on 'grad I guess I should add that the USSR and DDR both made good quality ones that are mostly inexpensive.
And they still sell them today?
Where can I find them?
I’m guessing eBay or Etsy, I suppose, but if there are any other places, I’d like to know!
There’s something so satisfying about tape cassettes. Some artists still sell tapes of albums as merch so I’ll have to get a tape player sometime.
Damn straight.
