EDF! EDF! EDF!
There’s no release date yet. Just announced in Famitsu magazine.
I am big Earth Defense Force fan, though haven’t played World Brothers yet. Well, I am actually playing EDF 5, so, I still have these games remaining:
- Earth Defense Force 5 (about half)
- Earth Defense Force : Iron Rain
- Earth Defense Force: World Brothers
- Earth Defense Force 6
Add EDF: World Brothers 2 and that would be 5 games. Looking at positive side, I am never going to run out of EDF games.
Anyone here like EDF? And has anyone played World Brothers? How is it compared to other EDF games?
Still waiting on some of the older legit EDFs to make their way to English speaking countries on Switch. At least I can still play the PS Vita ports, but it’s crazy to me that they brought World Brothers here but not any others!
Which one are you looking for? As far as I know, all EDF games (except the latest one, EDF 6) are available globally.
Edit: By “are available”, I mean they were available globally on their respective systems.
I tried EDF5 because Ssenzetherenth or whatever his name is had a video on it (and it was on PS+), and while I do like the super over the top craziness and arcadey action, the levels drag on way too long and it gets repetitive way before you actually get cooler shit to do. The UFO level was like 2 hours of the same shit.
Ah, don’t know about Ssenzetherenth (or whatever his name is), but yeah, the game is repetitive, that’s the whole point of the game, just mindlessly shooting tons of stuff.
As for the UFO level, do you mean the last mission? Yeah, it dragged a bit, but I played it again, and since I knew what to do was able to finish much quickly. It was a long one though.
I mean on the Switch specifically, where Japan has many more options than where I live in America. They just haven’t been localized yet, when they already have localizations from their respective systems, like you say. They’ve already been translated, just lemme play them!
EDF is a perfect portable game to me, so I wish it was available globally on the currently best portable system.
Ah, didn’t know about that.
Yeah, since the games are already localized, don’t know why they don’t just release them on West too. Maybe the publisher doesn’t think it’s worth it.
I’m sure there is a small amount of extra port work that would need to be done, the big one I can think of is text box size.
If the Switch version of those EDF games has a unique layout or size of its menus or text boxes compared to previous English localizations, then there would be some amount of new work involved in making sure all lines of text are sized appropriately, or edited if they do not fit correctly.
Past that, it’s hard to see why they haven’t put them out, I would love to play them again!
And to your other comment, I’m on a Kbin instance that has a funny time setting, you’re right. I wish I could just say I’m a cool dude from the future.
Yeah, makes sense.
I wish I could just say I’m a cool dude from the future. This was going to be my second guess, but the first one hit the mark 😀
BTW, your message timestamp is one hour ahead. So, either lemmy bugged out, or time setting of your instance is a bit messed up. Doesn’t really matter, just thought it was funny when it says your will be “in 40 minutes”, while rest are “10 minutes ago”. 😀
