I would really like to see this dangerous barcode. I assume something like that would just be a website QR code.
From what I’ve seen, it’s a QR code that links to a website which logs your IP address, along with other details.
Probably for targeted (or not so) hacking attacks. Heck might be a zero-day attack-kit on the web-page (probably geo-locked to the region).
I sure hope no one shares that link, leading to a subsequent spike in traffic and possibly taking the site down as a result. That would be a really shameful thing to see happen.
Not to mention the data corruption since the visitors would no longer be limited to the target area!
if it automatically goes to that website and the website downloads malware to your device, well, I wonder… Certainly trackers could be put on you that way. I am convinced that is why TAILS makes you go to their website before it allows you to go to the Dark Web or Tor.
well, most you here on Lemmy are liberal and make fun of preppers/doomers, but I wonder if you are seeing the light a bit now.
You’re on Lemmy.ml, most are Communists here. Lemmy in general leans Leftist, not liberal, unless you only browse instances like Lemmy.world.
Or maybe the person misunderstands the meaning of the term. Which is common
Just because a misconception is common doesn’t mean it needs to lay unaddressed.
True, true
