I assumed Y2K ended the world since that would explain the shared hallucination of the Bush administration.

Really it was Dec 21 2012 when MIT researchers observed Herbertsmithite exhibiting a quantum spin liquid behavior, and observing a new kind of magnetism for the first time. The observation caused a cascade of quantum probabilities to collapse, wherein our timeline has begun to “zipper” with the timeline for a quantum lineage of opposing spins. The two timelines will annihilate each other at the end of the Unixtime Epoch on Jan 19 2038 at 03:14:47 UTC.

This was communicated to me by the Enonoki who built Gobekle Tepe. They telepathically influenced the jitter in my screen refresh rate and metasyntactically programmed the information into my RNA, to be unlocked as a core memory by Wifi 6 resonance.

            You’re both wrong.

“Remedial Chaos Theory” is the fourth episode of the third season of the American television series Community. The episode was written by Chris McKenna and directed by Jeff Melman. It originally aired on October 13, 2011"

It IS true! The Earth WILL pass in front of the same Taurid meteor stream in 2032!

In fact, the Earth WILL pass in front of the same Taurid meteor stream in 2031! And 2030, and '29, '28, '27, '26, '25 and '24!

We should have listened to the warning delivered by the elder Millennials

Ok, say that this is true, what should we do to prevent it?

Because I can’t see humanity surviving an ice age of 1300 years.

Even if we find shelter, what would we eat?

I can’t see any way out of a scenario like this, and since if this is true it is a true inevitabillity we have zero reason to panic since it won’t help.

That is a fair point, and I should clarify what I mean.

There are two options of how to interpret the the doomsayer.

        1. Global ice cover, which is how I initially interpreted it as meaning, then we are truly gone.

        2. Partial Ice cover, here we can interpret “we” as the current civilization, that will be gone.

I did not consider scenario 2 as much as I should have, but since the author didn’t specify closer, I jumped to scenario 1 and worked from there

Either we start building Generators and elect a Captain a la Frostpunk, or we all die.

As for me, the work won’t complete itself, and those people sure as fuck ain’t doing theirs.

        Generators?

        Seriously?

If this is accurate, it is way, way, way too late for that.

Also how long to you believe the fuel would last?

The only somewhat reliable energy I could see powering an underground bunker for 1300 years of ice age is geothermal, but that would only save a tiny fraction of people untill the food runs out.

If this scenario is comming, we are gone, there are no ifs or buts about it.

Preparation is irrelevant: We. Are. Gone.

We have no resources to save enough people to keep going.

1300 years, let me put that into perspective:

1300 years ago was the year 724 AD, a time eighty years before the Viking age, it was during the 700s that the Mayan civilization started to decline, that is how much time we are talking about.

Generators or Frostpunk Prime Generals won’t matter.

        We are gone.

        If this happens.
