That being said I find it bizarre you can’t deal with the concept that a word has multiple meanings.

You read the whole article but chose to leave out the first section where I was right and then thought I wouldn’t go look at the Wikipedia article myself. No, I tried to point out that it has multiple meanings, you tried to say it has only one meaning in your attempt at a correction. This is indeed incorrect and I was right to point this out. This is presumably because you didn’t know anything about the coal miners or the redneck revolt and didn’t want to be caught out as ignorant.
I also haven’t read the whole article, because I don’t live in America and it’s not that important to me right now. I have read enough to know the information I was given was incomplete, and I have updated my statement and my views based upon the information I now have.

I grew up in the town with the largest coal tipple in the world in 1920, I work for a company that produces gas detection for coal mines for the last hundred years.
