As Marvel fans get some bad news, Predator fans get some great news. Disney has dated the next installment in the long-running sci-fi franchise.
Per Deadline, the officially titled Predator: Badlands will hit theaters on Nov. 7, 2025, taking the release date of Marvel Studios’ Blade reboot, which has been delayed indefinitely. Badlands, which was first announced in February 2024, will be the first Predator movie to receive a theatrical release since 2018’s The Predator. The previous entry, 2022’s Prey, was released straight to Hulu, much to the chagrin of the Predator franchise. Badlands reunites the creative team of Prey, with Dan Trachtenberg and Patrick Aison back as director and screenwriter, respectively.
While plot details remain under wraps for Badlands, which reportedly began filming in August in New Zealand, the movie is said to be set “sometime in the future,” focusing on two sisters who are put to the ultimate test as they pursue divergent paths and missions. No cast members have been officially announced for Badlands, although The Great star Elle Fanning was previously reported to be in negotiations for a lead role back in June.
sailed the seas and just watched the latest alien offering, and thought it wasn’t good, seems like i’m in the minority here, and even with some snappy planetside visuals, it was same ole same ole with a laughable alien big bad. the last alien movie that moved me was prometheus, which after getting trashed in reviewworld followed up with a far worse covenant, and now romulus
prey was solid, i dug it, it was very well made, so here’s hoping badlands continues the trend for predator
Prometheus good? Your not a minority, you’re alone.
So many unanswered questions. So much alien lore down the toilet, hours of backstory takes with guy Pearce and Charlize Theron cut and thrown away. Scientist looking like mercenaries and making worse decisions then a five year old. The little clues pointing to a blade runner connection going nowhere. If david was called weylands son, what does that mean for his daughter?
I guess it works as a generic non alien body horror film.
Prometheus wasn’t cut, it was butchered to be just that. A generic scifi horror story.
I will die on this hill, Prometheus was so good, I wished it were 4 hours longer. The butchering of the re-imagining of the Alienverse that started with Prometheus occurred when Scott succumbed to trite overwhelming criticism and killed it deader than Dillinger with Alien: Covenant, even the name says desperation. And then the vision was gone, and we get schlock like Alien: Romulus.
Because lots of people think it’s worse than that?
I thought I heard it was a box office hit?
It made $350M on an $80M budget and is the second highest grossing film in the franchise (not adjusted for inflation), but that’s no guarantee of quality. That said, taste is subjective and I know plenty of people who liked it. It comes down to whether you can stomach all the unsubtle references to previous films.
Unfortunately, movie quality is not strongly correlated with movie success.
Prey was so fucking good!
