So, yeah, awkward as hell. This morning, my boss sent an email that was meant for another manager but somehow ended up in my inbox. I opened it up (obviously), and it’s literally a list of people he’d let go ‘in case of budget cuts.’ Guess whose name’s at the top? 🤦‍♂️

Now, I’m not sure if I should go full drama mode and confront him, or if I should play it cool, start ‘borrowing’ the office coffee pods and highlighters, and treat my last days like I’m on a farewell tour.

Any advice? Has anyone else been in a similar situation, or am I just cursed

None of that. You go to HR or his boss and claim he’s leaking sensitive documents to employees as a scare tactic. Argue that since you are at the top of the list, you feel targeted and threatened and you feel your job is in jeopardy. Also, argue that making lists like this arbitrary and a waste of resources during working hours. Then the managers head will be the first one on the chopping block

    Time to start job searching.

If they are smart, this could be intentional as a way to get you to quit without severance pay/unemployment benefits they have to pay.

If they are stupid, there was likely a reason this list was requested, and you just got early notice of what is to come.

I’ve got no advice but as a manager that is crazy and even more crazy that it’s also come up for me today.

One of my employees told me one of my managers put her on the top of the list for bad employees. A literal list.

That’s obviously inappropriate and I’ll be talking with my manager about why there is a physical list and why they are sharing it.

On a personal level… Wtf… There are like 4 people below you… You need a physical list to keep track? I obviously recognize who is a hard worker and who isn’t, but there isn’t a paper list. Wtf?
