So the rash is subsiding through my using cortisone cream and calmoseptine😃 My test results are in, so I can see my doctor on Thursday 😃One of my kids are going to school today 😀 Mr P has an appointment at Peter Mac, so I have to pick her up from school.

My sister’s asked me to help her move some stuff out of her storage unit and I’m happy to help and I will shut up and do as I’m told and i will not lose my temper and throw something at her and I will not question her even though she does things the wrong way and I will pray.

When I was helping my bro and SIL move their shit recently they did fuck all and I’m still bitter. They didn’t even prepare things for moving. I rocked up to a complete mess and was expected to both organise their shit and move it.

They just stood around watching. When I was carrying their (heavy) chair from the truck, bro said “oh can you just put it in the lounge room” which was the straw that broke the camel’s back. The audacity. I said fuck off. That felt good.

You should’ve thrown a “What’s wrong with your fucking legs?”.

My biggest fear is we will get half way through moving boxes for her to decide maybe they should’ve gone on the otherside.

I’m also gonna hear a lot of “this is what I want” with unnecessary explanations. As my husband says " just shut up and deliver the baby".

You’re a braver person than I am. Soricide is still against the law, but soooo tempting in these circumstances. Still, its her stuff so she gets to decide.

cos I’m thinking sometimes it’s really nice to have someone I trust tell me I’m wrong or doing something wrong and then show me the right way

Lol just woke up from a stupid nightmare in which my LL sent me a message on reddit and she was dumb enough to have not used a burner account; she was saying all kinds of horrible things about me on landlord subs (with people goading her on) but also complaining about burnout and her partner stressing her out. I started screenshotting everything but the anxiety eventually woke me up. I really can’t wait to put her in the past (and someday put all landlords in the past…)

Things I’m particularly grateful for today:

    • a job where I feel safe and supported, wanted and not alone
    • a good friend I could call and mutually share what’s troubling us, someone who totally understands anxiety and is honest and genuinely shows up when asked
    • having the motivation to cook from scratch and relieve some of the bodily anxiety

Yep, it’s another big batch of Hoppin’ John tonight, healthy, cheap and delicious. I’m going to eat dinner in bed now with the OMITB finale on. I’m going to be OK…

I’m so glad to hear there was a bit of good stuff in your day. I am grateful I just found out about Hoppin’ John - just googled it and I think I might try a batch on the weekend.

Yes I first found out about it years ago when I was wondering what to do with black eyed beans. I make it with vegan sausages scrambled up separately and added in at the end. Plenty of onion and garlic. And eat it with basmati rice and lime pickle. If you do try it I’d be keen to know how it goes.

It is really earthy and wholesome. It’s a bit of a pain soaking the beans but would be perfect for an instant pot. I’m so glad you’ve had some wins as well esp on the health front!

If my sister can grow banananananas in Jacana, then you can too where you are. Hers even ripened and were edible if not quite as good as Qld ones. That was last summer, which wasn’t ideal weatherwise. Best of fortune for your banananananas.

I grew some bananas here in Carlton. Just make sure you have the right kind of banana, not all are edible.

New workplace takes absences seriously. Needed med cert for my single day off (needed for one day off if absence is Monday or Friday). Also had a “RTW” chat with manager who asked why I was off, am I okay now, any ongoing issue, anything they can do to help, etc. Quite invasive and definitely serves to dissuade me from future sick leave where it’s not absolutely needed - which I suppose is why they do it.

Do you have a workplace agreement or something in place that details exactly what you need to do and when if you need a sick day or carer’s leave?

While this isn’t quite the same my workplace is majority female. I once told a story that when a manager here was being quite full on with asking why someone was away they got a detailed recount of the menstrual cycle and their period.

That manager stopped asking people why they were off sick.

I googled it afterwards. Looks like they can ask, but can’t ask for any reasons on the med cert. You can refuse to give them any info I guess but they might not receive that warmly, even if you’re allowed to. My last employer wouldn’t have asked any of this so it’s new to me

What happens if you’re a carer and not the sick one? Do you take your kid to get the medical cert?
Relevant here, as I took the day yesterday looking after a sick kid. Getting to a doctor would have been a challenge as he was in no shape to ride and my wife had the car.

Good question. I’m not sure if Telehealth scripts work for carer’s leave - it’s what I used yesterday and it was fine, no mention of it being a lame type of cert or insufficient in any way…

I fall in love with every broken hearted,
    Black-haired singer, poet, artist,
I’ll never be the muse that inspires that rush,
Of a cascading all-consuming star crossed crush,
    I’ll just remain a stereotypical poetic trope;
A smoker, a toker, a poet without hope.

This is rather good. So much so, that I googled it looking for what these lyrics were from. Since I couldn’t place the song.

      Colour me impressed:

I had a nice morning getting some weeding done in the front yard - having the cloud cover and not having to work in full sun was definitely nice.

I have quite a few patches of self-seeded poppies coming up which is nice, they have been flowering solidly for months and the red works really well with the primarily blue/purple flowers I have in the garden. They work particulalry well with a volunteer borage that is in full flower at the moment too.
