Yo, thanks so much for making this comm a thing, I’m really happy that it’s already taken off! If you didn’t see my post in c/commrequest, I wanted this to be a thing because I made a Trans Synths starter pack and feed on Bluesky and wanted to have that community be multi-platform for those who no longer feel safe on Bluesky with their recent bs. So there may be some folks that come over here from Bluesky now that they know this is a thing.
If you haven’t seen the video by Red Means Recording from last year “Your Synthesizer is Trans (and Other Stories)” I highly recommend. Was the inspiration for making this community a thing.
I’m glad you’re happy, and I’m glad I could, at least in part, work to provide a safe place for other trans people 🙂

YES! FINALLY SOMEWHERE FOR ME TO RANT
Would this be the right comm to ask about setting up for simple recording at home? I can do the physical stuff but the software stuff is really confusing, as are ADCs and getting input to the computer. Somehow Jack is involved, but last time i tried to set it up i broke pulse somehow. I want to try again come the new year tho
I might be able to give you a hand. Pipewire makes everything way simpler and easier nowadays.
Wonderful! I havent sorted pipewire, but i can install it ^^ im using a 2019 thinkpad with void linux on it. I remember trying to get my midi controller working but it just would not (tho i also dont have a realtime kernel installed so even if i got it working i have no guarantee that it would be playable
You should be able to install it through your package manager and it’ll just replace pulseaudio and jack. You may need pipewire-alsa though depending on your setup and distro.
I want to try again come the new year tho
Might be good timing for me too. I have a bitwig license and a lot of hardware, and an intention to keep my production on linux. Perhaps we will figure it all out together.

I’ve been working on a pretty elaborate (for me anyway) project/album for the past over a decade. The finish line is almost in sight now and I hope that having music peeps to chat with will make it easier and more exciting to work on music! I struggle to find time for it in between all the being disabled
