Bunch of phreaks. Running around yappin’ about “captain crunch” this, and “hack the planet” that. Back in my day, we broke our damn backs just to sell a few pints of shine, and we were damn happy for it uphill both ways barefoot in the snow!

I think your definition of ‘ancient times’ is a bit of a stretch.

I’m gonna leave this up because it’s funny, but let’s stick to the spirit of the community, ok?

One key innovation came in 1889, when Connecticut inventor William Gray, frustrated with having to beg use of a phone to summon a doctor when his wife took ill, devised the first coin-operated public telephone.

      17th century technology isn’t ancient?

The 17th century (1600s) might possibly fit the community, but the late 1800s (or 19th century) are definitely too recent.

1889 is in the 19th century. And ancient in terms of the development of communications technology, sure. But I think if someone said that Queen Victoria lived in ancient times, few people would agree.
