I see that not everybody uses their actual names in their profiles as they’re testing out the waters in this new territory. The platform will take some relearning from Facebook to get used to.
It is notable that Friendica does support the ability to have multiple profiles on each account.
But the one thing that is funny to me is that anonymous users from Lemmy are able to communicate with Friendica users with real names. Imagine a well known expert on physics arguing with some armchair random from Lemmy hehe.
I lurk on Facebook under an alias as they won’t accept that this is my common law name. I see no reason why we need our real names here. Let’s not replicate Facebook - I much preferred Google+ and MySpace.
