But it gives me a bit of hope he isn’t just cutting Ukraine off or trying to force them to capitulate. Could even argue he might handle this better than Biden… Putin must be very weak right now to have his (former?) lapdog potentially turn on him.

I really really heavily doubt he will overperform Biden on this.

Putin now has to say “ok, ok, we’ll make a deal!” Then he says he’ll end the operation in Ukraine but only if they retain taken territory. Then Trump gets to say that’s reasonable, and Zelenskyy becomes the disagreeable one for saying no. Trump then turns on Zelenskyy. I give it 3 months before this chain of events becomes reality.
