what were they doing before, dumping trash in the street?
spoiler
I said, facetiously, when in the replies it is apparent that yes, Noo Yawkers throw their trashbags on the street
I couldn’t even figure out what they were bragging over until I had it explained.
We really need a before/after on this to illustrate how a multi-billion dollar hotel chain couldn’t figure out trash cans until 2023
It wasn’t market efficient.
Wheelie bin > Trash can

It’s more than 20 years.
More like 60 in Chicago
To be fair, Chicago had a giant fire that burned the entire city down, allowing them to add new alleyways for trash collection. It’s one of the most important parts of American urban planning lore.
Alleys fucking rock. Sure, It means things aren’t as dense as possible, but it allows for better walkable areas, as way fewer driveways at the street mean easier walking.
Rats seething
(Imagine that I remembered the Mayo Pete eating emoji here)
Well, you just had to blow all those resources on the F-35 tech, didn’t you. Regret clicking neoliberalism yet?
