i get where you’re coming from, and i agree that modernity rewards the worst impulses. but i think this is a bit of a miss. right now, women, poc, lgbtq+ people, migrants, and other marginalized groups are living in fear under this presidency. governor pritzker—who has consistently supported these communities—is making it clear that he stands with them. that they are not alone while actual nazis gain power.

yeah, the exchange is wrapped in dumb humor, and yeah, they’re both rich, but that doesn’t make it meaningless. visibility and solidarity matter, even when they come from unlikely or flawed sources.
