Summary
Costco will raise hourly pay for most U.S. store workers, increasing top-tier wages to $30.20 in the first year and adding $1 annually for two more years.
Entry-level workers will see a $0.50 increase to $20 per hour.
The move follows a strike authorization by the Costco Teamsters union, representing 18,000 employees, amid contract negotiations.
CEO Ron Vachris stated the pay hikes keep Costco’s wages ahead of industry standards.
Keeping DEI and having good wages! Go Costco, no wonder why the state republicans feel so threatened to attack. They cannot handle businesses treating their diverse shoppers and workers right.
The demagogues just want to take away all the compassionate things we have around the world by tearing down families with their propaganda and hate speech, threatening ethical companies who pay taxes but refuse to participate in shady behaviours, blackmailing teachers to treat their students poorly or else, shutting down libraries and taking away books that explain the experiences of others, attacking men for hugging and being there for their children, constantly mocking vegetarians and vegans, trying to remove representation of minorities of media that relate to people and their life situations.
great to hear! I was on the fence about buying a membership but now I think I will. the closest warehouse is about 45min away. so not too bad.
That is actually fantastic, wish there was one in my town tho, have to OD on the lemon poppy muffins
Fuck you costco, let them unionize…
Higher wage is good but this ain’t what this is about
They are unionized, which is probably why this is happening.
A pretty small percentage I think. 18000 of 220k. I’m a fan of Unions and good on Costco . You’ll also notice a distinct lack of union busting at Costco compared to your Amazons and Starbuckses
The raise comes from an authorised strike for 18000 employees at Costco who are unionized though?
They have unionized workers, the pay rise comes from said union brokering a new deal that almost led to a strike of 18k employees.
They are. Costco seems to have, for now, some of the last few respectable executives.
