the speed at which the US is falling apart is astounding

complete subversion of the organs of government by corporate forces

the almost immediate erasure of anything trans-related

families being ripped apart, people being deported and dehumanized in general

it feels like a prelude to the violence

the tech freak fascists have the reins now

the thiels, musks, and yarvins of the world get to see their vision carried out in amerikkka

the world burns

America has been worse than this in the past. It is true it is galling to see the mask slipping because it is too heavy. We are weaker than we have ever been as a country. This turn to colonialism ourselves is the last gasp of a dying empire. This too will pass

This is the time to organize comrade. Do not let doomerism get a hold of you. If you want to change the world, this is the opportunity to offer everyone around you an alternative. I am not talking about lecturing them to believe what you believe; but act in the way you want the rest of the world to act. Find an org and do something to counteract your pessimism. Action is the best way to combat the doom. Let tech freaks have the reins to a moribund and imploding government bureacracy. Help build dual power and, if you are tech savvy enough, support, or implement open source alternatives. Families are being ripped apart. Find ways to support them, through dealing with bureaucratic nonsense, translation, resource indexing, etc.

it feels like a prelude to the violence

Read Blood in My Eye by George Jackson the united states has been awash in violence for hundreds of years. The targets keep expanding, but we must avoid any pretense that this violence did not exist before, and is somehow new.

Hard to say this without sounding like a hypocrite, but I wish we could see if this true or if the internet has just warped reality for most

That’s the point. The system is designed to punish. You’re supposed to be afraid.

They want people to get a taste of what will happen for thinking that they could withhold their votes to defy the system. If you don’t vote for us, we’ll make sure you’ll suffer even worse.

The real question is how many people who sat out of the election will start voting for Democrats again.

voted blue like a chump. At the time I thought it was just a meaningless red state vote but now i feel like it was than worthless, it was actively harmful… anything that legitimizes demonrats as a party is just feeding into the same mechanisms that let them snuff out any hope for change over the last 40 years

and even then they would still punish people like me for being too far left and not buying into third-way-ism so fuck em. fuck em all and never let anyone tell you otherwise

it’s been said before but electoralism really is a fuck

The real question is how many people who sat out of the election will start voting for Democrats again.

good question, honestly after the biden administration i feel like their remaining goodwill is rapidly dwindling. Beyond being completely ineffectual to begin with theyre now an opposition party with zero power, so theyre worse than useless… people are really mad rn and theyre not doing anything, whether that’s because they won’t or can’t doesn’t really matter I think

it feels like a prelude to the violence

This is the violence. It can escalate, but dehumanizing immigrants and trans people (on top of and extending anti-blackness) is already violence as embodied by ICE raids and deportations, bans on participation and forced detransitioning.

I understand that you would not intend to undermine or disagree with what I just said. I just want to emphasize that violence has already started and has been here.

Breaking stuff is easy. If you’ve ever broken a room down to the studs, that’s the easy part. Large room for error, you’re already breaking things.

Building it back though. That takes a good long while. Requires layering, time, small margin of error.

I don’t think falling apart is right. It’s evolving. Into something less refined but more stochastic
