If you can, go get a checkup.

Turns out my vitamin D levels were so low I had most of these symptoms and needed blood work done to know that was my problem.

So many things cause fatigue and similar and some can be solved with super inexpensive meds.

This is why weed was invented by the ancient people of Kush.

I picked up exercising pretty consistently since last March. I had never been able to do that so consistently before.

I honestly did it because people said exercise is supposed to improve mental health.

      Guess what it didn’t do?

Yup, you guessed it. I also hate it almost every single time I do it. The one time I randomly really enjoyed my exercise routine I was in a bizarrely good mood already before I even started exercising that day. I felt so good like I was on drugs or something.

      Guess what it did instead?

Gave me chronic pain and fatigue that goes away if I skip my exercise routine.

There are outliers but it’s the simple truth. Consistent exercise makes the vast majority of people feel better in almost every way. Humans aren’t built for a sedentary lifestyle.

If you’re hating exercise you should reevaluate your approach. There are tons of ways to make it fun.

If you’re getting chronic pain after exercise you should reevaluate your approach. It’s easy to injure yourself if you’re doing it wrong.

I don’t think you’re fully wrong, for many people exercise does do wonders for their mental health. But it is definitely not the fix for everyone’s mental health issues. And telling people that all their issues can be solved if they would just exercise is just plain wrong.

Mental health is complex and there is no silver bullet. People who say “oh you’re depressed? Just do X, it always helps” are always wrong. For many people therapy works, but not for all. For many people exercise works, but not for all. For some people a simple blood check will reveal some vitamin D or B12 deficiency, and tackling this issue might improve stuff, but definitely not for all. Mental health for most people isn’t a battle where you flip one switch and get back into “the light”. It’s a long battle with ups and downs, that often doesn’t ever reach a fully stable “good” state. For me personally there are still plenty of bad moments, but now that I know that things can get better again and I’ve got the tools to get there, the bad moments generally are only temporary.

I don’t want to say there is a silver bullet or that mental health issues like depression aren’t real because they are, but also don’t overlook possible bad habits and the impact they could be having on your wellbeing.

I would generally identify with a lot of the things in the picture. That said, I participated in dry January this year and it’s insane how much better I feel. I’m not a heavy drinker, but man even those 2-3 drinks on 1-2 nights a week really were affecting my energy levels and mood. I hope I can keep this streak going because my head is clear. I feel good! Is there a thing in your life making you feel like shit? Too much sugar? Weed? Alcohol?
