More than 200 people packed into a Fremont city council meeting Tuesday as leaders voted to make it a crime to help homeless people by providing them with food, clothing, or other assistance.
I never understood the discrimination against homeless people. With so many Americans 1 or 2 paychecks away from being homeless you’d think they’d be more sympathetic. Some of them have problems, but so do people that have homes and jobs. The only difference is that they have the privilege of doing it in private where they can’t be judged. If you went to a homeless camp you’ll find people that weren’t homeless last month or even last week. Maybe they lost their job or rent got too high and now they have nowhere to go.
